Leaders in Logistics 2012 Conference is a huge success
by Ahmad Lala on Oct 24, 2012
The annual Leaders in Logistics Conference was held at the Grosvenor House in Dubai yesterday.
The event attracted more than 200 industry leaders and included key note speeches by Mahmood Bastaki (CEO, Dubai Trade), Charles Acworth (senior manager – Real Estate – Industrial Zones, KIZAD), Mark Appleyard (business development director, Tristar) and Professor Alan Waller (president, CILT)
Interactive panel discussions were held throughout the day on topics such as: achieving excellence in logistics operations, what do FMCG clients want, an outlook on 2013 trends, and a business case for investing in the education of staff.
“I think was an extraordinarily good day,” said Michael Stockdale, managing director, B2C Logistics, and conference chair. “We had the cream of the crop when it comes to logistics leaders in the Middle East. I think it was a beneficial day for everyone; it was good to catch-up with old friends and a good networking opportunity.
“The message that kept coming out of all the discussions throughout the day were: on how the exciting developments continue in the region, and how, specifically, investing in quality is paying dividends to all businesses. So it is not about cutting costs and trying to get away with something now, but there are far more businesses doing beyond what they’re required to and actually volunteering to increase their quality. And this is not just because it’s the right thing to do, but they’re doing it because there is a commercial payback – finally – for pursuing excellence in the supply chain.”
The Leaders in Logstics conference is an ITP Publishing event.
